  • The 8 lowest performing 8th grade English teachers in a district for 2018 participated in a Lean workshop.

  • Results were based on the 2018 and 2019 State Standardized Tests.

  • The 8 teachers implemented Lean in their classrooms beginning Fall of 2018.

  • Of the eleven 8th grade English state standards, the teachers focused on 3 "Power Standards" which comprise 56% of the test.

  • 2018-19 was the first iteration of Lean implementation.  The second iteration in 2019-20, teachers will incorporate the next two "Power Standards." The five collective power standards comprise 90% of the test.

  • General chemistry students scoring proficient increased by 19% on a state standardized test after lean was implemented in the PLC.
